We were established in July 2012 under the group name 'Haywards Heath Prostate Cancer Support Group' but rebranded in 2020 to cover a larger area and also welcome people from further afield.

We aim to:
Organise regular meetings, currently three times per year, according to the needs and wishes of our members.
Provide accurate and up-to-date information in co-operation with professionals but will not give medical advice or make recommendations

How we run:
We are not funded by the NHS and have a one-off joining fee of £15.00, which helps to cover our running expenses, and is payable by bank transfer to our bank account:- Sort Code 30-67-72 Account 13701062 , or by cheque made payable to : Mid Sussex Prostate Cancer Support Group and sent to 50a Lewes Rd, Haywards Heath RH17 7SN- Please join here. .

NOTICE BOARD
We have a Zoom Chat Room every Friday afternoon for members and guests to discuss treatment, side effects, hobbies and other topical subjects. The chat room is open to members only and notified via email. If you are a member, you can join our WhatsApp group by sending a message to 07919949318 we use this group for communication between members.
‘Every 2 weeks we organize a guided walk for our members and these dates are sent to members via personal emails. These walks are always fairly easy and quite short but do give our members the opportunity to get together outside,

Ensure that we listen to one another, that we welcome everyone equally and that we make sure everyone participating understands and respects confidentiality.
Our meetings offer opportunities for those affected by prostate cancer, their wives/partners, families and friends to share experiences and to learn more about the treatment of prostate cancer and current research. Guest speakers join us to give up-to–date, valuable information and to lead discussion.

Mid Sussex Prostate Cancer Support Group Celebrate 10th Anniversary

On Friday 17th June Mid Sussex Prostate Cancer Support Group held their 10th anniversary get-together at the village hall in Clayton. The group was started in 2012 by Jenny Stanger and a number of those original members are still in the group today.
Her aim was to offer support to men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer and give them advice and guidance through their cancer journey. Jenny was unable to attend the meeting but sent her best wishes and a short speech which was read out by one of the present committee.
We had a short speech by the group chair Brian Holden and another by one of the founders and still secretary and treasurer, Jenny Lea. The support group has grown to 80 members over the last 10 years and there are new men joining every month.
The primary aim of this meeting was to get as many of our members together to celebrate the success of our group, we especially wanted members from the original meeting 10 years ago and previous chairs to attend. There were quite a number of those original members amongst the 34 people who attended on the day. Wives and partners are also encouraged to take part and there were quite a few on the day.
The meeting was unlike most group meetings in that there were no speakers or presentations, simply lots of really good food and plenty of chatting and reminiscing among the members. One of our regular members Mike Knibbs entertained the group playing his ukulele and singing several songs which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
MSPCSG is open to anyone who has prostate cancer and would like support or guidance during their cancer journey.
